Only one thing defines if an IT service is truly available; if the user of that service perceives it to be available. UserVantage emulates users actions to monitor services from a user's perspective.

Systems monitoring usually comes down to monitoring specific application servers from a technical point of view. For example is the server 'up' are specific services running, have any errors been generated in the system logs etc. This does not however tell you how the service is performing from the user's perspective, just because a service is up does not meant that it is acceptable to the users, it can be slow, have logical errors and yet the technical monitoring solution would still show full availability.

UserVantage is a collection of technologies designed to test services from a users perspective by simulating user actions and measuring not just the responses but that they also complete within specified timescales.

UserVantage for XenApp

UserVantage for XenApp simulates user logons from remote watcher nodes that can be placed anywhere on your network. UserVantage can be configured to logon to specific servers, specific published applications or an entire Farm. Thresholds can be set for total logon time and an application can be launched upon logon to complete the tests.

Through the use of multiple watcher nodes network problems can be identified pro-actively, by measuring the logon times any issues with system response, file servers hosting profile and home directories are picked up as soon as they occur.

UserVantage for Windows Applications

UserVantage for Windows Applications simulates user actions into local applications running on Windows clients. Response times and logical output of the application can be measured against expected responses for alerting and reporting.
